Our Use of AI
The People Space uses generative AI selectively as part of our editorial and production process. We believe these tools can be useful when they support human thinking and judgement rather than replace them.
In our editorial work AI may be used to help interrogate structure and arguments, identify gaps or repetition, explore alternative wording and support research review. Articles published by The People Space remain subject to human editorial review and we take editorial responsibility for what we publish.
Where articles include research, statistics, quotations or other external evidence we expect these to be traceable to their original source and check material where appropriate.
We also use generative AI to create some of the original illustrations that accompany our editorial content. These are developed from scratch in The People Space brand style and are intended as illustrations rather than photographic or documentary representations of real people, workplaces or events.
Contributors to The People Space are expected to follow our separate contributor AI policy and remain responsible for the originality, accuracy and sourcing of material they submit.
Our AI Policy
We believe in original, human-centred thinking. Generative AI can be a useful working tool, but the ideas, argument, expertise and experience in anything submitted to The People Space must be your own.
AI tools can be used to:
- tighten structure, grammar or tone after original drafting
- explore alternative wording for clarity or audience fit
- help interrogate or summarise complex source material, provided you then check the original source yourself
AI tools must not be used to:
- produce an entire article for submission
- generate the central argument, opinion or claimed expertise
- invent examples, quotations, research, statistics, sources or experiences
- present AI-generated information as fact without checking it against a reliable original source
You are responsible for what you submit
You remain responsible for the originality and accuracy of your contribution, regardless of whether AI tools have been used during its preparation.
Any research, statistics, quotations or external evidence included in your article must be checked against the original source before submission. Please provide links to the original research or full source details with your draft so our editorial team can verify them if required. Do not rely on an AI-generated citation, summary or reference without checking it yourself.
If generative AI has been used materially in preparing your article, please tell us when you submit it and briefly explain how it was used. Use of AI will not in itself prevent publication. What matters is that the thinking is genuinely yours, the evidence is accurate and properly sourced and the article meets our editorial standards.
The People Space edits contributions and retains final editorial control over everything we publish. We reserve the right to reject submissions that do not meet our standards for originality, accuracy, sourcing or transparency.
