Our Editorial Guidelines

✍️ Word Count

We prefer 1,250–1,850 words. Shorter pieces are considered by agreement.

🗣️ Style & Voice

  • Professional, informed, and approachable
  • Avoid clichés, tired contrasts or binary framing
  • Use UK English, avoid too many commas - especially in lists before 'and' unless clearly needed (a sure sign of AI use) and use en dashes not em dashes please
  • Reference all sources and data
  • Keep it clear – write for intelligent, time-poor practitioners

🧠 Structure

  • Start with a compelling hook: Why this matters now
  • Use subheadings and bullets for scanability
  • End with practical takeaways or recommendations for HR and people leaders
  • Use lowercase for job titles (eg HR director, chief people officer)

👤 Author Info

  • A short bio (50–80 words) with your role, credentials and one relevant link
  • A high-resolution headshot

  • Frameworks and tools that make complex ideas usable

Please avoid:

  • ❌ Generic trend summaries
  • ❌ Promotional content or product plugs
  • ❌ Shallow listicles without substance

Our AI Policy

We believe in original, human-centred thinking. That means:

AI tools can be used to:

Tighten structure, grammar or tone after original drafting

Reword for clarity or audience fit

Summarise complex materials (with proper sourcing and fact-checking)

AI tools must not be used to:

Write entire drafts

Generate opinions or arguments

Create ‘insight’ that isn’t grounded in your own thinking

We reserve the right to reject content that appears AI-written or fails to meet our standards for originality and depth.
